According to The Mirror, Newcastle United are now interested in a summer move for Tottenham midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.
The Dane joined Spurs in 2020 from Southampton, and his performances in north London have seemingly caught the eye of Newcastle United.
The Magpies have room to improve in the midfield, and after the signing of the silky Bruno Guimaraes in January, Hojbjerg will bring some real steel to that midfield.
One man who is a fan of Hojbjerg is former Newcastle star Moussa Sissoko. The Frenchman was Hojbjerg’s teammate for a short time at Spurs, and he described him as ‘great’.
What’s been said about Hojbjerg?
Sissoko had good words to say about his midfield partner after his arrival at Tottenham.
“We are very pleased to have Pierre in this team,” Sissoko told Football London. “I think since he came, since his first game, he’s shown all of his quality. He brings a lot of energy to the team.
“He’s a great midfield player. Of course, he’s young, but he also has some experience because he’s been playing in a few teams before. Hopefully, he’s going to keep going in that way and keep bringing all of his energy and his ability on the pitch, even with the ball he’s a good footballer.
“I think he’s a good addition to the squad and he’s shown it since he came and I hope he will keep going in that way.”

Seal of approval
Sissoko was a fantastic midfielder for both Newcastle and Tottenham, and if he thinks Hojbjerg is great, then he should be good enough for the Magpies.
We all know what Hojbjerg is about. He’s been in the Premier League for long enough now.
He’s an energetic midfielder with a good eye for a pass, and alongside Joelinton and Guimaraes he could be a real star for United if they bring him in.
Sissoko certainly rates him, and we’re sure he’d be a favourite of the Toon Army if Newcastle can get this one over the line.
