Jurrien Timber has told his former Ajax teammate Lisandro Martinez on his Instagram story that it was ‘good to see you’ following Arsenal’s pre-season friendly defeat to Manchester United on Sunday morning in New York.

Whilst Arsenal’s new boy was pleased to take a picture with Lisandro Martinez after the game, the same can’t be said for the rest of his teammates.

The Manchester United defender riled up a few during the friendly win over the weekend following his questionable challenge on Bukayo Saka – Mikel Arteta shared his thoughts on it all.

Many felt that it wasn’t needed given that it was just a pre-season game, but others think that his nature and he just doing what he does best.

In truth, it’s one of those situations. If Martinez was on your team, and he did that, then you would defend him all day long.

But if he is on the other side, then you are verbally battering him, which he got from Arsenal supporters, but not Jurrien Timber, this is what the £38m (Sky Sports) summer signing had to say, as he posted on his Instagram story.

‘Good to see you, brother,” Timber wrote on his IG story.

Martinez the Villan

It’s fair to say that when Arsenal and Manchester United meet for the first time ahead of the new Premier League campaign, there will be a new Villan in town.

Arsenal fans will remember his challenge and they will make sure he knows about it.

But that won’t stop the World Cup winner from being on the front foot in his defending, aggressive and no-nonsense to the point that supporters think he is going over the top.

Either way, it just adds that extra spice to Arsenal and Manchester United meetings again.
