It might only be pre-season but Tottenham Hotspur-owned Troy Parrott is off the mark with his new club.
The 18-year-old striker scored for Millwall in their 5-1 demolition of Bromley on Tuesday afternoon.
Parrott, who already has a Premier League debut for Tottenham, was loaned to the Championship club earlier this summer after barely featuring under Jose Mourinho during the second half of last season, even when main striker Harry Kane was out injured.
Much is expected of the Irish marksman and here’s how Spurs fans reacted on Twitter to his goal yesterday:
Loaning out Parrott is a double-whammy for Tottenham, in a good way.
Not only will their most exciting young player be playing regular football in a fierce division like the Championship, which will do wonders for his development, but it indicates that Mourinho will be signing another striker.
And if we’re honest, the Lilywhites have needed quality back-up to Kane for years now, with Fernando Llorente and Vincent Janssen being a bit meh, so hopefully the Portuguese and chairman Daniel Levy can sign one.
