Danny Mills said on talkSPORT (7:39am, September 14, 2020) that Leeds United summer signing Robin Koch will have to get used to the robustness of the Premier League quickly.

The former Leeds right-back made the comments while reflecting on the Whites’ 4-3 defeat at the hands of Liverpool away from home at Anfield in the Premier League this past Saturday evening.

How Robin Koch performed against Liverpool

Koch, who plays as a central defender and joined the Whites from Freiburg in the summer transfer window, was probably unlucky to have given away the first penalty that the visiting team conceded.

However, the 24-year-old Germany international recovered well and held his own at the back, although the fact that Liverpool scored four goals against them suggests that Marcelo Bielsa’s side need to do better defensively.

Koch took one shot which was not on target, had a pass accuracy of 83.3%, won three headers, took 78 touches, and made three tackles, two interceptions and four clearances, according to WhoScored.

Danny Mills’s take

Mills has a suggestion for Koch, and he has also given his take on Patrick Bamford.

Mills said about Koch on talkSPORT (7:39am, September 14, 2020): “I think Robin Koch coming in is a good player, he is a good ball-player, a good defender, but he’s gonna have to learn very, very quickly that the Premier League is a little more robust perhaps than what he is used to.”

Mills said about Bamford on talkSPORT (7:40am, September 14, 2020): “I have been one of his biggest critics over the past couple of seasons. He works his socks off. There is no harder working centre-forward than Patrick Bamford, but he has missed some opportunities that probably even I might have scored from time to time.”

Gary Neville impressed

Meanwhile, former Manchester United star Gary Neville was impressed with the performance of Leeds against Liverpool and has high expectations of them this season.

Neville said on Sky Sports Premier League (5:25pm, September 14, 2020), as transcribed by Leeds Live: “I think they’ll do really well. I think they’ll scare the living daylights out of teams. I think they’ll take some teams, as they did with Liverpool’s defenders, to a really uncomfortable play.”
