Troy Deeney has said on Ben Foster’s YouTube channel that Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale used to be like Everton star Jordan Pickford when he was at Sheffield United.
The Birmingham City striker believes that Ramsdale has become a calmer and more mature goalkeeper since he moved to Arsenal from Sheffield United in the summer of 2021.
Deeney made the comments while analysing Everton and England international goalkeeper Pickford.
The striker believes that Pickford plays for the crowd.
Ramsdale, who has three caps for England, moved to Arsenal from Sheffield United for £24 million (The Athletic).

Deeney said: “I think Ramsdale has gone the opposite way. I thought Ramsdale was that at Sheffield United, now he is calm and has matured into a leader. Feel like Pickford plays for the crowd. When he plays for England, he is miles better.”

Top-class goalkeeper
In our view, Arsenal star Aaron Ramsdale is a superb goalkeeper and is one of the best in his position in the Premier League.
The 24-year-old is very good with his feet, can build up play from the back, and is very good at stopping shots.
Now, of course, Ramsdale makes mistakes from time to time and he will continue to do so, but every footballer does that.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta clearly rates the goalkeeper, and we are sure that he will back him even if the England international makes a few mistakes.
After all, Ramsdale is only 24 and is still learning his trade.
