Akshay Bhatia has officially declined a lucrative offer from LIV Golf, opting to continue his career progression on the PGA Tour instead.

The 22-year-old – already a two-time PGA Tour winner and ranked 46th in the world – would have been LIV’s most notable signing in some time.

But his decision is another setback for the breakaway league, which has struggled to attract emerging talent since its initial wave of high-profile acquisitions.

Bhatia now joins a growing list of players who have chosen to remain loyal to the PGA Tour, reinforcing the notion that LIV Golf’s allure may be fading among the sport’s next generation.

Akshay Bhatia stays with the PGA Tour

Bhatia’s decision comes as his stock continues to rise.

With two PGA Tour wins and consecutive appearances at the Tour Championship, he’s already established himself as one of the game’s brightest young prospects.

According to Golf Channel, the offer from LIV Golf that he turned down was substantial.

Unlike LIV’s early wave of big-name signings, recent additions such as Victor Perez and Laurie Canter haven’t carried the same impact. Bhatia’s decision not to join only underlines that trend.

His choice also reflects a broader shift among younger players, who appear to value long-term development and legacy within the PGA Tour over the immediate guarantees offered by LIV Golf.

Established stars who also turned down LIV Golf

Bhatia’s stance echoes that of several major figures who have stayed loyal to the PGA Tour.

Rory McIlroy has been one of the Tour’s most vocal supporters, repeatedly rejecting LIV offers and defending the Tour’s structure.

Tiger Woods reportedly turned down an offer worth hundreds of millions, citing loyalty and legacy.

Hideki Matsuyama also declined a major proposal, prioritising his partnerships and eligibility for golf’s four majors.

Together, these decisions have helped the PGA Tour retain its footing through golf’s shifting landscape.

Bhatia’s refusal adds to that pattern – a younger generation choosing competition, credibility, and development over disruption.
