David Gold has called on West Ham United fans to show their support on Twitter and get behind new manager David Moyes after the club appointed the Scot on Tuesday.

Former Everton, Manchester United and Sunderland manager Moyes was appointed less than 24 hours after the club confirmed they had sacked Slaven Bilic, as the Hammers slipped into the Premier League relegation zone.

Now in 18th place and with just two wins from 11 league outings, Saturday’s 4-1 loss to Liverpool was deemed as enough is enough by the West Ham board who decided to call time on Bilic’s tenure in his third season at the helm.

West Ham co-owner Gold pleaded with fans on his Twitter account to back 54-year-old Moyes as he looks to take the club forward and guide the east Londoners “up the table to safety”.

Fans watch the Premier League match between Crystal Palace and West Ham United at Selhurst Park on October 28, 2017 in London, England.

Moyes’ appointment was met with huge backlash from the majority of the London Stadium faithful, who criticised the board’s decision to select Moyes after what were deemed as failures at United, Real Sociedad and Sunderland.

However, they have decided to give Moyes the chance to resurrect his managerial career and simultaneously guide West Ham to Premier league safety after an abysmal start to the 2017-18 campaign.

Moyes takes charge of his first game on November 19, as West Ham travel to Hertfordshire to face Marco Silva’s Watford at Vicarage Road.
