Alasdair Gold reports on Football London’s live coverage of Tottenham Hotspur’s win over the K-League XI on Wednesday afternoon that Emerson Royal annoyed Cristian Romero, during the first half of the 6-3 victory.

Tottenham secured victory in their first pre-season match of the summer in the sweltering heat at the Seoul World Cup Stadium. A brilliant game, in which Spurs took the lead three times to eventually secure a 6-3 victory.

Eric Dier opened the scoring with a gorgeous left-footed effort from 25 yards. Gue Sung Cho equalised with a brilliant header, Davinson Sanchez allowing the striker to get a run on him. It was 2-1 moments after the break.

The introduction of Harry Kane saw the England captain whip a low cross in with his right foot, turned into his own net by a defender. Lars Veldwijk made it 2-2, only for Kane to come up with a left-footed stunner of his own shortly after.

Son Heung-min made it four, to the delight of the fans watching their captain in action – scoring from the penalty spot. Jun Amano made it 4-3 with a free-kick Lloris will be disappointed to concede, before Kane and Son got another.

But with the score at 0-0, Romero was not impressed, according to Gold, after Emerson missed a sitter. Good work from Richarlison saw the ball bobble towards Emerson. The Brazilian had to score, only to hit the side netting:

“It’s a sitter but he slides it wide. Romero does not look impressed, ” Gold reports.

It was some miss. Emerson should have scored and quite easily, should have hit the target. To actually miss the target is quite a remarkable feat. One that the defender will want to forget sooner rather than later.

The Brazilian was sacrificed just after the break to introduce Son and surely, that played a part in Antonio Conte’s thinking. It will be interesting to see if he retains his spot, with Djed Spence incoming and Matt Doherty in the mix.
