Alasdair Gold has told a Q&A session on Football London that Bristol City wonderkid Alex Scott has been “scouted heavily’ by Tottenham in recent months – and the North London club are weighing up a move for the midfielder.
Ahead of last season, 18-year-old Scott had only played three senior matches for Bristol City. But during 2021-22, he clocked up 39 outings in all competitions. This time around, he has already started both Championship games.
The seven-time England international is largely used in central midfield but has been attracting interest thanks to his technical ability. Spurs and Leeds were linked with the midfielder in April, rated at £10million.
Now, Gold says Tottenham have been extensively scouting the young Englishman. A player that has earned comparisons with Manchester City superstar Jack Grealish, given his birthplace – the ‘Guernsey Grealish’.

“As for Alex Scott, he’s a player Spurs have scouted heavily and spoken about and the 18-year-old has got a fair bit of interest in him at the moment,” Gold said this week, when asked about any remaining Spurs transfer activity.
Gold: Scott ‘scouted heavily’ by Tottenham
Tottenham need to bring in some English talent – proven by the addition of Djed Spence. With the likes of Troy Parrott and Dane Scarlett leaving on loan, Spurs are somewhat close to the line regarding homegrown registration.
Spence has allayed those worries, as has getting rid of Pierluigi Gollini and replacing him with Fraser Forster. Bringing in Scott would go one step further to solving those problems, especially if Harry Winks also departs.
But with Ivan Perisic, Richarlison, Clement Lenglet and Yves Bissouma coming in, Spurs have added four non-homegrown players. One to keep an eye on. The quicker they get a deal done, the cheaper it might be.
