Some Liverpool fans are gushing over reported Tottenham Hotspur target and Southampton marksman Danny Ings following his brace on Tuesday.
Ings, who left Liverpool to join the Saints in a £20 million deal in 2018 [The Telegraph], marked his comeback from injury last night by scoring twice in a 3-1 win over Crystal Palace.
Prior to his hamstring issue, the 28-year-old hitman was bang in form and reportedly on Tottenham’s radar as recently as April [Eurosport].
Ings now has 12 goals in 25 Premier League games for the St Mary’s club this season – a very decent return and one that has some Liverpool supporters singing the blues.
The former Burnley striker might have made a big difference for Jurgen Klopp’s side this summer, particularly with Roberto Firmino so out of form.
Here’s how some fans of the Anfield club reacted to his display last night:
Are Spurs a good fit for Ings?
Well they’d snap him up in a heartbeat, but he won’t be going to North London if Harry Kane is still there.
Remember, he only left Liverpool for first-team football and considering he won’t be keeping Kane out of the team in N17, a move to the Lilywhites is illogical if it’s just to be as his compatriot’s back-up.
God knows Tottenham need another number nine to replace Carlos Vinicius who looks set to return to Portugal following a season-long loan.
But no matter how lethal Ings is between now and the end of the season, a switch to the North Londoners doesn’t really make sense.
