Tottenham Hotspur boss Jose Mourinho has suggested on Football London that Dele Alli is likely to play on Thursday evening in the Europa League.

Alli was left out of Tottenham’s squad for their game against Burnley yesterday, as his season went from bad to worse.

Alli seems to be struggling to even earn a place on Tottenham’s bench at the moment.

But Mourinho has suggested that the goalscoring midfielder could feature in midweek, when his side take on Antwerp.

“You know I feel very bad we did, I feel even sad every time I have to write a list of players selected for a game,” Mourinho said.

“It’s not just about Dele. But if the players understand Thursday we have another match and that some people who didn’t play are going to play Thursday. And vice versa.

“If they understand this. This is the life of a big club, the life I know from my times in Real Madrid, Inter, Chelsea. I know that. So the boys have to be ready.”

Ordinarily having to play the Europa League could be seen as a slight snub with former Spurs bosses generally being keen to rotate their side in the competition.

However, Mourinho has already outlined his desire to win the trophy this season and has consistently named strong line-ups to date.

Alli is likely to be surrounded by fellow Tottenham first-teamers on Thursday, with Mourinho having great depth to his options at the moment.

If Mourinho does want to give some of the players who missed out last night game time, then Gareth Bale, Joe Hart and Harry Winks could all feature.
