Speaking to Liverpool’s official club website, Xherdan Shaqiri has shared what Kostas Tsimikas does every day after the club’s training sessions.

The Greek left-back has struggled to make much of an impression during his first season at Anfield, making just one appearance in the Premier League thus far, but Shaqiri believes it’s only a matter of time before he makes an impact.

The Swiss midfielder spoke highly of his teammate, while also sharing that he does extra work after training every day.

“Very good. He is, first of all, a very good character and a very nice guy,” Shaqiri said.

“A happy guy, always laughing every day – this is also very important. He is a good friend of mine; I try to help him any time he needs some help. He’s a funny guy.

“Obviously he didn’t have a lot of games this season but we see his qualities every day in training and how hard he works every day in the gym, after training too. I think this is going to pay off soon.

“I hope he gets his rhythm as soon as possible and he can get some minutes because he’s a very good player and he can be much, much better if he can improve himself also. That’s why he came here.

“I’m looking forward that he’s going to be a very, very important player for the club.”

We still haven’t seen much of Tsimikas, but it sounds as though he has the right attitude to be a real asset for Jurgen Klopp.

Extra work after training is bound to pay off at some point, but with Andy Robertson providing his main competition at left-back, you can understand why he’s struggled to get minutes this term.

Hopefully, next season is a breakout campaign for the Greece international.
