Alvaro Montero has told Sky Sports on Tuesday afternoon that there’s a ‘huge possibility’ that Arsenal will sign Martin Odegaard from Real Madrid.

The Spanish journalist pointed out that Odegaard doesn’t have a number at Real Madrid and it seems the 22-year-old is ‘going to leave’.

Odegaard was in Arsenal colours for the second part of last season and with Mikel Arteta looking for more creative spark to his declining team, he could be one of the answers to just some of his problems.

Montero shared this update on Odegaard joining Arsenal this summer.

“Real Madrid knows that Arsenal is a huge possibility because economically they have enough for the player,” said Montero.

“We have to remember when Carlo Ancelotti was asked about the future of Martin Odegaard, he feels in the same path as the club.

“He said there are eight midfielders, so players like Isco, Asensio, Sergio Arribas and even Dani Cabellos. It seems they are all before Martin Odegaard.

“He hasn’t a number. If you saw Real Madrid’s website right now, Martin Odegaard has no number. It seems he is going to leave and Arsenal is a huge possibility.”

If the Odegaard move does happen then it would be a welcome relief for the Arsenal supporters.

Both on and off the pitch, it is a doom and gloom for their supporters, from abject and lifeless performances from the players to those in the boardroom struggling to refresh the squad or get players out of the door.

It just sums up the state Arsenal are in and where they are heading because there aren’t any signs that they are in the upward trajectory.

The next stop is a London derby against Chelsea and things might just get a lot worse.
