Troy Deeney has backed Rangers boss, Steven Gerrard, for the Tottenham job, as he told talkSPORT.
Tottenham when down the trusted and proven route of Jose Mourinho, and it didn’t work.
Whilst Gerrard isn’t as highly regarded as a Mauricio Pochettino, he does have that swagger, style, man-management skills and ability to build up young players about him.
And that’s why Watford hitman, Deeney, who will come up against Spurs next season, feels that Gerrard could be the one for the North London outfit.
“One has jumped out of my mind and Ally (McCoist) is going to hate me for this,” said Deeney.
“But they want a style of play and a winner. Then there is a certain somebody, up in Rangers, who is doing that and developing players. Maybe that could be the chance Steven Gerrard deserves.”

Perhaps Gerrard should look towards Frank Lampard and how making that jump to the Premier League is too early for him.
If the former midfielder does ever manage in England’s top-flight, many feel he will head in one obvious destination, and that’s towards Anfield.
But Rangers fans will be hoping Gerrard stopping the ten and winning the Premiership title this season is only just the start of the legacy he is building in Glasgow.
And, at the end of the day, management is all about timing. This time last season, Gerrard wouldn’t have even been considered for the Spurs job, but now he is.
So, both Gerrard himself and Rangers should take that as a compliment because it shows how far they are rising under his stewardship.
