William Saliba is one of the best young defenders in the Premier League and is a key figure at Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal.

Arsenal are a better team with William Saliba in it.

The 22-year-old was brilliant for Arsenal last season, and the way he played against Manchester City at the Emirates Stadium this past weekend suggests that he has taken his game to another level now.

Saliba is calm on the ball, makes the right challenges at the right time, does not get frustrated after making a mistake, and reads the game well.

The Arsenal and France international centre-back is the gem of a player.

Stephen Warnock on Arsenal defender William Saliba

However, former Liverpool player and Sky Sports pundit Stephen Warnock has noticed something about Saliba that he does not like.

Warnock has noted that Saliba goes to the ground easily.

The pundit said about Saliba on talkSPORT (5:06pm, October 9, 2023): “I like him a lot. I came in for a bit of criticism the other week.

“He was playing against Beto for Everton. Beto was giving him elbows and getting into him a bit.

“The only thing I don’t like about it is I don’t like him going to ground as soon as there is a little bit of contact.

“You are a strong lad, just show your quality.

“You should bully him, be stronger than him. I got a little bit of stick off Arsenal fans for that.

“I think he is brilliant.”

My View: William Saliba need not change anything in his game

I do not believe that Arsenal and France international central defender William Saliba should change anything in his game.

He is brilliant the way he is.

As long as Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is happy with him, there is no need for the 22-year-old to make any changes.

I believe that Saliba is going to get better and improve in the coming years.

After all, the Frenchman is only 22.
