Tottenham Hotspur head coach Jose Mourinho has told the club’s official website that Leeds United will finish in a very good position in the Premier League table this season.
Mourinho made the prediction ahead of the Premier League game between Tottenham and Leeds at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Marcelo Bielsa’s side are 11th in the league table at the moment with 23 points from 16 matches.
Mourinho told Tottenham’s official website: “Leeds are a team with nothing to lose. They were champions last season in the Championship, they come into the Premier League and there is no pressure on them.
“They play without any kind of pressure, they play to win football matches, they play to follow their style of play.
“I believe they are going to end in a very good position in the table, but for them, to finish sixth, seventh or eighth, as an example, there is no difference. They are a very difficult team to play against because of their style of play.”
Going strong
Leeds won automatic promotion from the Championship at the end of last season and have been very good in the Premier League so far.
The way the Whites have played in the top flight of English football has earned praise from fans and pundits alike, and it is unlikely that Bielsa will change his playing style.
Leeds have suffered some heavy defeats (Manchester United, Crystal Palace and Leicester City), but the West Yorkshire club have also won big against Newcastle United and West Bromwich Albion.
It is unlikely that Leeds will finish in the European places, but it does not appear that they will end up in a relegation dogfight either.
