Even though Gerrard is yet to meet the Villa squad, he has already become familiar with Ramsey.
On Thursday, the 20-year-old produced a Man of the Match display for England’s U21’s – and it didn’t go unnoticed by his new manager who responded with a simple eyes emoji.
It’s exciting times for someone like Ramsey because this is the age where he is looking to take his game to the next level.
And there is no better person than someone of the legendary status of Gerrard to have with him on a weekly basis on the training ground.
Villa fans think their academy youngster will cook under Gerrard’s stewardship and perhaps go to higher heights than they expected.
One thing is for sure, Ramsey was a bit of a favourite under Dean Smith because the midfielder caught his former manager’s eye from the moment he was first appointed.
As a teenager, he was training with the first team on a regular basis, before making his debut aged 17, when Villa were in the Championship.
Since then, he has continued to rise and he is now starting to become a regular in this Villa side.
Ramsey has showcased this great ability to pick up the ball in attacking areas, look incredibly comfortable when carrying the ball and look to link-up play in the final third.
Now, it’s a case of adding more meat to the bone and he will start to get recognised a lot more.
