Tottenham star Eric Dier spoke to Football London about Joe Hart ahead of his side’s Europa League qualifier on Thursday.

Spurs signed Hart on a free transfer after the Englishman was released by Burnley at the end of last season. The former Manchester City man is hugely experienced and although he hasn’t played a lot recently, he is a very smart addition.

Hugo Lloris is Tottenham’s undisputed number one and that is unlikely to change any time soon. Hart will push the Frenchman to his limits which is only a good thing for Spurs this season.

Having won numerous trophies with Manchester City, Hart will bring a winning mentality to Tottenham. His experience will be a big help to youngsters behind the scenes, and Dier is delighted to have him at the club.

He said: “He’s been fantastic. He’s someone I knew beforehand but the energy he brings into the building and his work ethic is great. He’s won big trophies and played big games but just now he was out there after training, saving ten penalties from people and five free-kicks from others.”

“He is still willing to work so hard and make those sacrifices. I’m sure he’s going to be great from us. He did save one penalty from me….from four.”

Hart could start his first game for Tottenham on Thursday

Tottenham face Lokomotiv Plovdiv in the Europa League qualifiers on Thursday. Mourinho is expected to rotate his squad with an early away game against Southampton coming up at the weekend. That might give Hart a chance in the game in Bulgaria.

The Englishman has played in Europe before and starting him wouldn’t be that bad an idea. If he gets the chance and does well, Mourinho’s decision to bring him in on a free transfer will look brilliant.
