Andros Townsend told talkSPORT on Wednesday that he would be ‘very surprised’ if Harry Kane hasn’t already spoken to Mauricio Pochettino amid rumours of a potential Tottenham return.
Tottenham are still on the hunt for a new coach and Pochettino’s name has surprisingly cropped up in recent weeks, as reported by the Athletic.
Whether it’s Pochettino in Tottenham’s dugout next season, or somebody else, one thing they will want is Kane out on the field and still repping the North London outfit.
And ex-Spurs winger, Townsend, thinks if not Kane himself, then Daniel Levy would have given someone like Pochettino ‘reassurances’ that the Englishman is ‘going nowhere’.
“The relationship Pochettino and Harry Kane had, I would be very surprised if they didn’t already have a conversation,” said Townsend.
“Would Pochettino want to go to a Kane-less Spurs? Probably not. So, again, he probably would have had reassurances, if not from Kane, then Daniel Levy that he’s going nowhere.”

Tottenham needs a big name and someone who will lift the spirits in North London, else it can end badly this summer.
Daniel Levy isn’t the most popular person amongst Spurs supporters, but if he can get a number of key decisions right this summer then he might just win over the fans.
Bringing in a popular coach will start things off, then keeping Kane and finally ensuring that the new manager is backed with significant funds in the transfer market.
But it’s pretty clear, if Spurs continue to decline over the next 12 months then the likes of Levy won’t last too long in their job.
