Liverpool will once again face off against Shrewsbury Town in the FA Cup after being drawn with the League One side in the third round.
The Reds will host Steve Cotterill’s side at Anfield in early January in what is a favourable draw for the Premier League giants. Liverpool drew with Shrewsbury in the 2019/20 season, where Jurgen Klopp’s side were forced into a replay.
With Liverpool’s youngest-ever XI winning the replay at Anfield, there is some recent history between the two sides, and Shrewsbury will no doubt relish the occasion to play at Anfield for the second time in two years.
The third round of the FA Cup is regarded by many as one of the best weekends in the English football calendar. And away from Anfield, there are some cracking fixtures across the country.
Chelsea will host National League side Chesterfield at Stamford Bridge, whilst Manchester United host Aston Villa in the headline fixture of the round. Arsenal also face Nottingham Forest away from home, who will be keen to pull off another upset.
As for Liverpool fans, they are buzzing that they will start their FA Cup campaign with a relatively easy match against Shrewsbury. And supporters on social media are starting to dream of a quadruple-winning season.
