Neil McCann has stuck the boot into Rangers hitman Alfredo Morelos, despite his goal on Wednesday night.

Steven Gerrard’s side drew 2-2 with Aberdeen at Ibrox.

Moreleos scored his side’s first goal of the night to take his total haul for Rangers to 101, after becoming a centurion this past weekend.

But the goal aside, it was a pretty average and sluggish performance from the Colombia international.

He had the chance to reignite his old rivalry with Celtic icon Scott Brown – who scored the Dons’ second of the game – and former Rangers star McCann feels that it was an opportunity missed for the South American.

He told the Gers’ channel online: “Then you are looking for Morelos, he has a wee bit of fire and history with Brown to say ‘I’m going to give you the worst night for a long time, I’m going to run you into the ground’.

“He’s walking about! There is no movement, there is no urgency, he’s going down with wee knocks in his back. Hold it in, back in, knock it wide, get your backside in the box.”

The 25-year-old, a £1 million signing by Rangers in 2017, very much is a Jekyll and Hyde figure under Gerrard these days.

He could be meek or an absolute monster and rarely is there any inbetween for Morelos.

There’s no denying that, on his day, he’s an absolute nightmare for Scottish Premiership defences – and European ones, too.

But you’d never put your mortgage on Morelos having a stormer for Rangers anymore and ultimately, that’s the problem.
