Vital Vanaken – father of Club Brugge marksman Hans Vanaken – has invited Arsenal and Tottenham to submit bids for his son.

What’s the story?

Well, the 29-year-old is on fire right now, and has been for a number of years now – he’s probably overdue a move to the Premier League.

After scoring and assisting in Club Brugge’s 2-1 win over RB Leipzig on Tuesday, the 13-cap Belgium international’s father told HLN Sportcast: “Hans played one of his best halves ever.

“One more top year with Club Brugge, maybe a third Golden Shoe, and then a top transfer. Arsenal, Tottenham, let those teams come!”

In our view, we’d be surprised if Arsenal or Tottenham hadn’t already been attracted to Vanaken, given his form over the last few years.

The Club Brugge captain scored 14 goals and provided 17 assists in the 2017/18 campaign, which is absolutely incredible.

Then, Vanaken scored 17 goals and assisted 19 more in the 2018/19 campaign, improving on his tally from the year before.

Remarkably, he scored another 17 goals in 2019/20, before netting 16 goals and providing seven assists last season.

So far this term, Vanaken already has five goals in ten games.

Should Arsenal or Tottenham sign Hans Vanaken?

Clearly, Vanaken has outgrown the Jupiler Pro League and needs a new challenge, so we think one of the north Londoners should sign him.

If neither Arsenal or Tottenham do, then we believe West Ham might swoop in and make the pair look foolish.

Back in 2020, the east Londoners bid £12.7 million for Vanaken, an offer which was rejected by the Belgian giants (HLN).

In our view, Vanaken has done nothing to put the Hammers off since making that bid – if anything, he’s made West Ham want him more with his unerring consistency.

Interestingly, Vanaken still scores plenty of goals despite lacking pace, which suggests he has a fantastic goalscoring brain.

That would benefit him greatly in the Premier League, a division where many players struggle to adapt – keep an eye on his future.
