Tottenham Hotspur lost their first game of the Premier League season against Arsenal at the weekend, but this defeat has been coming for a little while.

Indeed, while Spurs have been getting results, they’ve been underperforming for quite some time, particularly in the attack.

Harry Kane, as always, has been in tip-top form, but Richarlison is yet to score in the Premier League, while Heung-Min Son has failed to find the net in seven of his eight games so far this season.

That’s why it’s so frustrating to see some former Spurs attackers shining throughout Europe.

We’ve already been over how Steven Bergwijn has been shining over in the Netherlands, but there’s another Dutchman who used to play for Spurs who is ripping it up over in Europe.

Vincent Janssen is currently the joint-top scorer in the Belgian Pro League, netting seven goals in just 573 minutes, averaging out at a goal every 84 minutes.

As bad as Janssen was at Spurs, he’s now showing, once again, that he knows where the back of the net is, and while the Belgian League isn’t on the same level as the Premier League, there have been some fantastic players to come from that division in recent years.

The likes of Charles De Ketelaere, Leandro Trossard and Jonathan David have all made big moves to top leagues after impressive goal hauls in Belgium, and now Janssen is emulating their form.

If Janssen hadn’t already tried and failed to crack the Premier League with Spurs, we’re sure that there would be plenty of Premier League sides vying for his signature ahead of the January transfer window.

We’re not saying that Spurs should’ve kept hold of Janssen, but it is frustrating that he can’t stop scoring when Tottenham’s attackers are largely out of form.
