We’re a few weeks into the 2022/23 season and some new stars are already starting to emerge across Europe.
In the Premier League, the likes of William Saliba and Brenden Aaronson are making a name for themselves while youngsters such as Jamal Musiala and Folarin Balogun are taking their leagues by storm at a young age.
However, arguably the biggest breakout star of the season so far has been over in Italy where Kvicha Kvaratskhelia is enjoying a remarkable start to life in Serie A.
We hate to get carried away so early, but Kvaratskhelia looks like he’s the real deal.
He may have only played 138 minutes in Serie A so far, but he’s made every second he’s played count.
He’s scored three goals in 138 minutes, averaging out at one goal every 46 mins, while he’s also grabbed an assist during that time.
Kvaratskhelia is an absolute nightmare to defend against. He’s an incredible ball carrier, and he’s not afraid to pull the trigger at any point, averaging 4.6 shots per 90 so far, with two of those coming from outside of the box.
Of course, it’s early days, but it’s not hard to understand why the 21-year-old was hailed as a ‘genius’ during his time at Lokomotiv Moscow.
Kvaratskhelia looks like a player who could perform in any league, but unfortunately, a move to the Premier League never came to fruition.
The attacking midfielder had long been linked with a move to Leeds United, with the Whites in longstanding talks about a transfer, but Napoli swooped in this summer and that transfer to West Yorkshire never came about.
Based on his incredible start in Italy, Kvaratskhelia was a Premier League star in the making, and Leeds may have missed their only chance to land this mercurial talent.
Leeds may forever regret not snapping Kvaratskhelia up, because this is a player who looks like he’s headed to the very top.
