
Some Aston Villa fans on social media have been reacting to the news that Trent Alexander-Arnold will miss the Euros.
The Liverpool ace picked up an injury against Austria earlier this week, and sadly that means that he’ll be missing the upcoming tournament.
As ever, when one door closes, another one opens, and while Alexander-Arnold’s hopes have been dashed, there’s an opportunity awaiting somebody else.
As you can imagine, Villa fans think that this spot should only be going to one man, Ollie Watkins.
Watkins was unfortunately cut from the 33-man longlist, which led to Andros Townsend expressing sympathy for the Villa ace, but now he has another opportunity to head to the tournament.
Bringing Watkins into the squad would make sense, England only have two recognised number nines in the squad at the moment, so a bit of extra depth up there is needed, while Watkins can also play out wide if needed.
