Rio Ferdinand has said that Newcastle United target Harry Maguire has to leave Manchester United in the summer transfer window.

Ferdinand has said on his YouTube channel that Harry Maguire simply has to leave Manchester United for his own good, with Newcastle United reportedly interested in the England international central defender.

The former Manchester United centre-back believes that Maguire needs to find a new club to resurgent his career.

In March, 90min reported that Newcastle are keen on securing the services of the £200,000-a-week (SalarySport) 30-year-old centre-back.

Ferdinand said, as transcribed by UIF: “I think he needs to. If he wants to resurrect his career he has to go in the summer.

“He cannot stay there and play second fiddle. If he genuinely wants to stay as an England player and get back on track.”

Harry Maguire should consider leaving Manchester United for Newcastle United

In our view, if Harry Maguire has the chance to join Newcastle United in the summer transfer window, then the Manchester United central defender should take it.

He simply has to.

Yes, Manchester United are arguably the biggest club in England, but Maguire is a peripheral figure in manager Erik ten Hag’s squad.

After all, the 30-year-old, who has been tipped to join Aston Villa in the summer transfer window, has made only seven starts and eight substitute appearances in the Premier League for the Red Devils this season.

Newcastle are likely to play in the UEFA Champions League next season and are going places under PIF and manager Eddie Howe.

Maguire is a very experienced player and always plays well for England, and he would be an asset at Newcastle.
