Troy Deeney said on talkSPORT (8:29am, December 7, 2020) what Arsenal defensive midfielder Thomas Partey should have done during Tottenham Hotspur’s second goal in the North London derby.

Harry Kane scored Tottenham’s second goal in their 2-0 win at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the Premier League on Sunday evening.

When Spurs were scoring on the counter-attack in first-half injury time, Partey was seen struggling with injury and trying to get off the pitch.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta pushed the 27-year-old onto the pitch, but the former Atletico Madrid star could not do anything to stop the goal.

Partey did not come onto the pitch after the break due to injury, and Watford striker Deeney believes that the Ghana international should have gone down and asked the referee to stop play.

Deeney said about Partey on talkSPORT (8:29am, December 7, 2020): “I think in that moment you would prefer Partey, as a player, I would prefer to stay in the middle of the pitch and go down and try to get the ref’s attention and go off to the side.”

Moving on

Partey has had injury problems at Arsenal in recent weeks, and the North London club’s fans will hope that he recovers soon and that his injury is not serious.

For Arsenal to bounce back and go on a winning run in the Premier League, they need Partey to be on top of his form and in full flow.
