Leeds United’s, Luke Ayling, has told Barry Douglas on Instagram to ‘go and smash it’ after he re-joined Lech Poznan.
Leeds parted ways with Douglas this summer after his contract expired this month – he was on-loan at Blackburn last season.
And now, the 31-year-old has returned to familiar grounds in Poland – he played for Poznan for a three-year period in 2013.
Nonetheless, after he moved back to Poland, the left-back reacted on Instagram to his ‘new chapter’.
A number of his former Leeds teammates reacted to the news and posted the following messages:
Ayling wrote: “Yes Bash. Go and smash it mate.” Whilst, England international, Kalvin Phillips added: “Good luck my friend.”
Liverpool youngster, Harvey Elliott, who was with Douglas at Ewood Park last season, wrote: “All the best my bro.”
A lack of consistent game time and injuries didn’t help Douglas at Leeds, but he just couldn’t get his engine going in Yorkshire.
Prior to his spell at Leeds, the set-piece specialist had enjoyed a fruitful spell with Nuno Espirito Santo’s free-scoring Wolves by helping them to promotion to the Premier League.
The Scots man did the same in Leeds colours, but played a smaller role than the one he played when he was in the Midlands.
