Tottenham have struggled creatively in big games, so should they look to sign Keisuke Honda in the summer?

Christian Eriksen is a key part of Tottenham Hotspur’s side, but the tie at Wembley against Gent showed, he cannot be expected to single handedly lead them to victory.
Spurs have a dearth of creative options with Erik Lamela out injured, and have struggled to break down top level opposition.
Spending big on a high profile player like Hakan Calhanoglu is a tough sell, because just like Gylfi Sigurdsson, a struggle for game time behind Eriksen would make it tough for him to flourish and justify a big price tag.
This is why it could be a no-brainer for Tottenham to revisit their interest in 30-year-old Keisuke Honda, who is available on a free transfer this summer when his AC Milan contract expires.
Honda is a globally renowned star who would not only help Spurs with shirt sales in the Far East, but on the pitch too.
His ability from set pieces and range of passing would help lighten the load on Eriksen and add depth to Mauricio Pochettino’s options.
Spurs were linked with Honda back in 2015, via The Metro, and he has been angling for a move away from the San Siro for a while, now content to run down his contract after falling out of favour.
A lack of action this season, just six appearances, would make Honda somewhat of a punt for Tottenham, but on a free transfer it is a value move they should consider.
His best season at Milan came in 2014/15 when Honda contributed directly to 10 goals, scoring six and assisting four, and that sort of return would be a welcome one for any side able to snap him up this summer.
