Brad Freidel has claimed that Liverpool forward, Mo Salah, has a bigger Premier League legacy than Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane, as he told Stadium Astro.

The former Premier League goalkeeper noted how Liverpool’s ‘global’ presence plays a part in that, but he feels Tottenham and England supporters would push for Harry Kane.

The attacking duo have been the standout goalscorers in English football in recent years, and at the peak of their powers, the best is probably yet to come.

At 29, Kane has less than two years left to run on his Spurs contract, as he searches for that all-important trophy to elevate his career and legacy to even higher heights.

Salah already has that because the 30-year-old has won the lot during his time in English football.

Nonetheless, when Friedel, who represented both Spurs and Liverpool during his career, was asked who has the bigger legacy between Salah and Kane, he issued the following response.

“Domestically, people in the north and in Liverpool, are going to say, Salah,” said Friedel. “People in the south, especially people who support England and Tottenham will say, Kane.

“Globally, I would say Salah because of Liverpool’s name, in the global recognition, winning the Champions League and being involved in different areas of the world that maybe Harry Kane isn’t.

“The fact of the matter is that Harry Kane will go down as a Tottenham legend, no matter what happens from now on until the end of his career. Harry Kane could have played at any club. If he was at Man City, then he would be scoring the goals Haaland is scoring now.

“I think they both go down as Premier League legends. I think it’s a really difficult question to answer and they are in slightly different positions. But they will both go down as legendary figures of the clubs.”

GOALS IN THE PREMIER LEAGUE

On the Premier League stage, Kane is pushing towards Alan Shearer’s all-time PL record and at 194 goals, he will hit his double century this season.

On the other hand, Salah has played 206 league games to Kane’s 296, as the £34 million Egyptian player (BBC Sport) has 126 goals to his name.

It will be interesting to see what numbers they reach by the time they finish because it wouldn’t be a surprise if they end their careers on English soil.
