Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane will be looking to win the Golden Boot at the end of the season.
Brighton forward Glenn Murray has lauded the qualities of Tottenham striker Harry Kane who he claims has ‘a bit of everything’ in his game.
Both Murray and Kane would be considered as old fashioned number 9’s, with the former towards the back end of his career and the latter just starting to prove his worth.
In recent seasons gone by, Kane has been one of the top marksmen in England’s top flight and he will be hoping to prove his worth once again this term.
Speaking to BBC Radio Five Live’s Monday Night Club (18/03/2019), Murray spoke about the old fashioned number 9’s in today’s game as he was in awe of what Kane has done.
“I think there’s a place for the old fashioned number nine in England,” Murray told the Monday Night Club. “If it’s played in the right situation. If you’ve got speed around him and you play to his strengths. I still think there are places for players like me in the modern game.
“He [Kane] is a little bit of everything isn’t he!? He has those traits. That’s why I respect him so much. He went out there and learnt his trade in the lower leagues. I think you can see little bits of that in his game today. I think that’s made him a more rounded player.”
Whilst Kane will be rightly winning the plaudits at Spurs, who have been competing for the top honours in the Premier League. Murray’s job at the AMEX Stadium shouldn’t go unnoticed.
This season, he has struck 11 goals in 29 league matches for Chris Hughton’s side as he is one away from equalling his 12 goals from last term [transfermarkt].
By contrast, Kane has scored 17 goals from his 27 league games this season. During the previous campaign, he found the back of the net on an incredible 30 occasions [transfermarkt].
Kane missed out on the Golden Boot to Liverpool’s Mo Salah last term, but he will want to reclaim his crown with eight games of the season remaining.
