Glenn Loovens has explained that Keiren Westwood’s influence is a key reason why Sheffield Wednesday have enjoyed so much success this season, the Sheffield Star reports.
The 31-year-old has kept 14 clean sheets in all competitions this campaign, and that form has helped the Owls not only finish in the Championship’s top six, but go on to reach the play-off final.

And Loovens has outlined how Westwood’s performances fill the defence that plays in front of him with so much confidence.
“We know Keiren is a great goalkeeper and we know he’s there to do his part when we can’t. He has been doing that for the last two years,” he told the Star.
“It helps massively knowing we have got someone of Keiren’s quality behind us. You always like a back up when things don’t go your way and Keiren has been brilliant for us all season.”
Carlos Carvalhal will be hoping that his goalkeeper maintains his excellent form for when they line up against Hull City at Wembley on Saturday.
Hull finished the regular season as one of the highest scorers in the second tier – only Burnley, Brighton and Brentford managed more goals this past term – with Abel Hernandez’s 20 strikes making him the third highest scorer in the division, so Wednesday will be extremely wary of the threat that the Tigers pose.
But with Westwood conceding just once again Brighton – who were one of the teams that scored more times than Hull – over the two legs of their play-off semi-final, the Irishman will be confident that he can keep Hull at bay, and help the Owls confirm their place in the Premier League.
