Glenn Hoddle suggests that Tottenham Hotspur should have taken a leaf out of Liverpool’s book in the summer transfer window.

Liverpool reached the final of the Champions League in 2018, but the Premier League club lost the big game to Spanish and European giants Real Madrid.
2018 summer signings
Then in the summer of 2018, the Reds made two key signings – Fabinho from AS Monaco and goalkeeper Alisson from AS Roma.
Xherdan Shaqiri also moved from Stoke City, while Naby Keita joined up with Jurgen Klopp’s team after spending the 2017-18 campaign at RB Leipzig.
Liverpool won the Champions League title last season, getting the better of Tottenham in the final, and the Merseyside outfit also came close to clinching the Premier League title.
Following Liverpool’s plan
Tottenham legend Hoddle has suggested that Spurs should have invested in their squad like Liverpool did in order to go a step further in the Champions League this season.
Meanwhile, Spurs goalkeeper Hugo Lloris has said that his side are stronger now than they were in 2018-19.
Hoddle said on BT Sport 2 (5:43pm, September 18, 2019): “Liverpool went very close. What did they do? They invested in the right two players, only two players, went on, went back and won it. Can Tottenham do it? It’s going to be a big ask for them.”
Lloris said on BT Sport 2 (5:30pm, September 18, 2019): “I do think that we are stronger than the past. Togetherness is very important, and this is something that we tried to build in the club since day one of Mauricio Pochettino.”
