Danny Rose incurred the wrath of many Tottenham Hotspur supporters with some recent comments he made about the club.
Glenn Hoddle has suggested to the Mail on Sunday that the Tottenham squad are actually likely to have been pleased with Danny Rose’s controversial recent comments – adding that the timing of the interview was probably the one key mistake the defender made.
Rose incurred the wrath of many Spurs supporters this week after giving an interview to The Sun where he criticised Tottenham’s recruitment as well as the wages the club pays in comparison with some of their rivals.

And while Hoddle suggested that Rose made a mistake speaking out so soon before the Premier League season began, he believes that the rest of the squad may have been pleased that the left-back took a stand.
“Danny Rose will not have walked into an angry dressing room on Thursday morning, following his now infamous comments about signings and salaries at Tottenham,” he told the Mail on Sunday.
“In fact, deep down his team-mates will be thinking, ‘Well done, Danny. You’ve put your head above the parapet but you’re only saying what we’re all thinking.’
“We can all agree that the timing was wrong, coming at the start of the season and after six months of injury. Few would argue with the sentiment.”

While the comments caused a considerable amount of anger, they may perhaps be looked back upon as a turning point if Spurs make a few marquee signings before the end of this window and they end up enjoying a fantastic season.
The interview itself may not have been the catalyst that prompted the club to act in the market, of course, but it highlighted the frustration that many associated with Tottenham were feeling during this window – even if Rose went about expressing those frustrations in a controversial manner.
