Glenn Hoddle has told BT Sport that West Ham United have performed miracles to keep hold of Dimitri Payet this summer.

The midfielder was the star of the show for the Hammers last season in an impressive first year in the Premier League.

He continued to shine in the summer as he played a key role in France’s run to the final of Euro 2016, with several impressive performances in the group stages in particular.

He was back starring for West Ham in the Premier League on Saturday as he shone despite their 4-2 loss to Watford at the London Stadium.

He had been linked with several big European sides in the transfer window, and Hoddle says he thinks Slaven Bilic’s side have performed miracles to keep hold of him.

“I think West Ham have done miracles to keep him,” he told BT Sport.

“I really thought he would move on after the Euros. He could go on and play in most of the top teams in the Premier League and in Europe. He’s a game changer.”

West Ham will now be hoping that Payet can be the game changer for them after they managed to keep hold of him.

The pressure is very much on them this season, with fans wanting to see them build on the impressive campaign they enjoyed last season.

Payet will be key to them doing that, as he showed in this game, and it remains to be seen if he can push them forward once again.
