Speaking on his podcast, Glenn Hoddle has made a comparison between this current Arsenal side and Mauricio Pochettino’s Tottenham team.

Hoddle was asked on his podcast which north London club did he think was in the biggest mess, and while he said that neither club are a mess, Arsenal have the edge over Spurs due to the number of great young players they have coming through.

Hoddle says that Arsenal’s crop of youngsters reminds him of what Tottenham once had under Pochettino.

“Well, I think both clubs are at a crossroads, I wouldn’t say they’re a mess, but they’re at a crossroads and they need to get some work done,” Hoddle said.

“I think they’re very similar, but where Arsenal are slightly ahead of Tottenham is, do you remember when Pochettino put a group of young Spurs players in and they all grew together? Some were from the academy, others like Dele Alli were bought, but there was a youthfulness about this team.

“That’s what Arsenal have got at the moment they’ve got five or six real good youngsters that are getting in the first-team and have first-team experience.”

This is certainly very exciting to hear if you’re an Arsenal fan.

Regardless of the rivalry between Spurs and Arsenal, you have to admit that Pochettino’s Spurs were amongst the most exciting teams in the world in their pomp, and if Arteta can match that level of success, he’ll have taken Arsenal a long way.

Yes, Pochettino never won Tottenham a trophy, but he got them to second in the league and to a Champions League final, which is way ahead of where Arsenal are at the moment.

The likes of Bukayo Saka, Emile Smith Rowe and Gabriel Martinelli could certainly spearhead a successful period for the Gunners.
