Glenn Hoddle has praised reported Leeds United target Sam Johnstone on Rio Ferdinand Presents Live.
The former Tottenham Hotspur star believes that Johnstone has been brilliant for West Bromwich Albion this season.
Hoddle has backed the 28-year-old to be part of the England squad for the European Championship this summer.
The Daily Mail reported last month that Leeds are among the clubs who are interested in the goalkeeper, who is valued at £18 million by his club West Brom, who have been relegated from the Premier League.
Hoddle said on Rio Ferdinand Presents Live: “I really like Johnstone. I think this fella, if he goes to another club, West Brom fans won’t want to like to hear that, where he has not got to make seven or eight saves every game, which he has done over the season, I think he is a top goalkeeper. I have seen him this season. He has been brilliant.”
Illan Meslier is the first-choice goalkeeper at Leeds, and the Frenchman is doing exceptionally well.
The 21-year-old is keeping former Real Madrid goalkeeper Kiko Casilla out of the team, and that shows his class.

However, Johnstone is a more mature goalkeeper who is at a more advanced stage in his career.
Healthy competition is always good for any team, and for £18 million, Johnstone would be a good signing for Leeds, not just for now, but for the long term as well.
If Leeds are to challenge for the European places in the Premier League table in the coming years, then they need strong competition among their players.
