The England legend raves about the West Ham man.

Writing in The Mail, Glenn Hoddle has said that France playmaker Dimitri Payet is his stand-out star of Euro 2016 so far.
The West Ham United schemer has been in fine form for les Bleus, scoring a last-minute stunner to beat Romania 2-1 in the curtain raiser, before also finding the net in the subsequent clash with Albania – a 2-0 win.

The 29-year-old also impressed in the 2-1 come-from-behind last-16 win over the Republic of Ireland this afternoon, and Hoddle says that the former Marseille man – who joined the Hammers for a bargain £10 million last summer – has been head and shoulders above the rest thus far.
It has taken quite a while for Payet to showcase his abilities on the biggest stage of all, but he is certainly doing so now on a regular basis, and Hoddle is enthused that the West Ham wizard has reached his true potential.

“And then there is, for me, the player of the tournament so far, Dimitri Payet, He has been the difference for France with wonderful passes and goals at the right time,” he wrote in The Mail.
“At the age of 29, he has reached his full potential.”

West Ham fans simply love Payet but his impressions on the continental stage may make them feel somewhat uneasy.
He has been linked with Real Madrid this summer already and Irons supporters could be forgiven for cheering on France’s opposition – which, incidentally, could be England anyway – in the competition in an effort to get Payet back as soon as possible.
