Glenn Hoddle has praised reported Tottenham Hotspur target and West Bromwich Albion goalkeeper Sam Johnstone in The London Evening Standard.
The Tottenham legend believes that Johnstone has been outstanding for West Brom so far this season.
Hoddle has added that he thinks that the 27-year-old Englishman is ready for the next step in his career and move to a club in the top six of the Premier League.
The Sun reported earlier this month that Spurs are looking at Johnstone as a potential replacement for Hugo Lloris in the summer of 2021.
The report in the British tabloid claimed that Tottenham are worried that former manager Mauricio Pochettino will try to sign Lloris for his new club Paris Saint-Germain at the end of the season.
Hoddle wrote in The London Evening Standard: “I really like Sam Johnstone, the goalkeeper at West Brom. I think he is ready for one of the top six clubs to go and get him.
“I have seen him four times this year and he has been outstanding. If West Brom can get out of the hole they are in, he could be the one to save them. “
Good signing for Tottenham Hotspur?
Johnstone is playing well for West Brom at the moment and has been one of the better players for the Baggies so far this season.
The former Manchester United prospect is at an age where he could want to move to a bigger club than West Brom.
If Lloris leaves at the end of the season, then Johnstone would be a good replacement for the Frenchman, as he has progressed well over the years and knows the Premier League inside out.
