Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly interested in signing Gylfi Sigurdsson from Swansea City in the summer transfer window.
Glenn Hoddle has suggested in The Daily Mail that Swansea City midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson would be a good signing for Tottenham Hotspur in the summer transfer window.
According to The Daily Mail, Tottenham are interested in signing Sigurdsson from Premier League rivals Swansea in the summer.
It has been reported that Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino wants to re-sign the 27-year-old as he believes that the Iceland international midfielder is a better and cheaper alternative to Everton star Ross Barkley, and is considering making a £25 million move for him.
Tottenham legend Hoddle has given his take on the speculation, suggesting that Sigurdsson would be a good signing for the North London outfit.
“It is no surprise to see Sigurdsson linked with a return to Tottenham,” Hoddle wrote in The Daily Mail. “Outside of the top six, he is the player with the best technique and creativity.
“In a struggling Swansea team, he’s made 13 assists and scored nine, he’s a wonderful free-kick specialist and can play with both feet.
“When he left Tottenham he had been playing on the left-hand side of a 4-4-2 and you’re never going to get the best out of him.
“Now he’s a much better player than he was three years ago. In fact, he would be perfect for Tottenham in the system they play, with Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen. He could play left, right and central.”
Sigurdsson is a brilliant midfielder, one of the best in the Premier League, and he would certainly be a good addition to the Tottenham squad.
The problem is that the Swansea midfielder would struggle to get into the Spurs starting lineup, which is pretty much set if all the key players are fit. Would the Iceland international be happy to be a substitute at Tottenham?
