Tottenham Hotspur came away from the Bernabeu with a 1-1 draw against Real Madrid in their Champions League group-stage clash.

Mauricio Pochettino’s men maintained their unbeaten start to the group-stage campaign and put themselves in a fantastic position to qualify out of the group as they drew 1-1 against Los Blancos.

Both sides had the chances to win the game however, and one of those chances fell to Eriksen. The Dane – who was fantastic in the weekend win over Bournemouth – forced a decent save from Keylor Navas, but Hoddle admitted that he was disappointed by Eriksen’s display, and suggested that it has become an all too familiar tale for the playmaker when Spurs take on the heavyweights.
But while Hoddle was not impressed by what he saw from Eriksen, he was full of admiration for Winks’ display in the draw.
“Harry Winks had a wonderful game. For a young man who’s just made his England debut, the confidence he’s got to play forward, that’s what I like about him. He really plays forward quickly,” he added.
Pochettino will surely be delighted with what he saw from Winks, as the signs certainly suggest that he was not overawed by the situation in the slightest, and actually relishes the big occasion.
And with the club hoping to establish themselves as one of Europe’s heavyweights, having another player who shines on the biggest stages will undoubtedly boost their chances of cementing themselves as a real force.
