Former England international Glen Johnson has admitted Jim White on talkSPORT (23 May, 10am) that he could consider backing out of retirement if the opportunity to sign for Celtic presented itself.
A gifted right-back who represented West Ham, Chelsea, Liverpool and Portsmouth throughout a stellar playing career, Johnson announced his retirement in January after a difficult spell at Stoke City.
But at the age of just 34, Johnson is still fit as a fiddle and, with a couple of weeks of training, could surely do a job for a number of clubs who want some added depth and quality in the full-back areas.
And when asked on talkSPORT whether a move to Celtic would appeal, Johnson has suggested that it would.
“Yeah,” he said. “I’d get my boots on, no drama.”
Johnson was tipped by some to join the Scottish Premiership champions during Brendan Rodgers’ reign at Parkhead. The 54-cap England international worked with the former Celtic boss during his time at Anfield after all, narrowly missing out on the Premier League title in 2014.
And there will surely be space at Celtic for a new right-back with Mikael Lustig, Cristian Gamboa and Jeremy Toljan all expected to go this summer.
