Glen Johnson has claimed that someone like Hakim Ziyech will have a ‘field day’ for Chelsea against Tottenham on Sunday, as he told Premier League Preview.
The former right-back isn’t the only one who thinks Chelsea will do well this afternoon because Tim Sherwood also feels someone like Romelu Lukaku will cause Spurs ‘a few problems’.
It’s unknown yet as to what type of team Nuno Espirito Santo will play, especially in defence because there are a few issues.
Cristian Romero and Davinson Sanchez flew back on Saturday ahead of the all-London Sunday clash, Japhet Tanganga is suspended and Eric Dier limped off against Crystal Palace last time out.
It leaves Nuno scratching his head as to who he will play in defence, especially against a Chelsea side that has now completed their attack with Lukaku’s arrival – and he’s started like a house on fire.
Both Johnson and Sherwood can’t see past a Chelsea win, with the European champions starting off the campaign with three wins and one draw.
“I think with Lukaku up front, they could cause them a few problems,” said Sherwood. “They (Spurs) have injury problems also.”
Johnson added: “I just think it’s the manner in which it’s happening in (Tottenham’s performances). They haven’t scored more than once. Kane’s hit a little flat spot. It’s strange to put your finger on it.
“I can’t see past Chelsea with this result. I think Lukaku and players like Ziyech will have an absolute field day against Tottenham’s defence, unfortunately for them.”
Ziyech has started one Premier League match for Thomas Tuchel’s side this season and he will be hoping to keep his place in the XI.
He started the 3-0 win against Aston Villa last time out and also played over an hour against Zenit in midweek in the Champions League.
But Tuchel has a star-studded and jam-packed team to choose from, so whilst Ziyech will want to keep his place in the XI, he might find that he has to drop to the bench because the games are coming thick and fast.
And whilst he may drop out, there is no chance of Lukaku warming the bench, especially against this Tottenham defence.
