Celtic have been nothing short of fantastic so far this season.

Celtic’s Head of Performance Glen Driscoll has shared an insight into why he believes the Hoops have excelled so far this season.

Brendan Rodgers’s side have enjoyed a fine start to the 2016-17 season, sitting top of the Scottish Premiership by four points, despite having a game in hand.

Celtic have also fared wonderfully in Europe; reaching the Champions League group stages following a two-year exile, and held Manchester City – who are top of the Premier League – to a 3-3 draw at Parkhead last month.

The Northern Irishman certainly appears to be working wonders in Glasgow, but some of the Bhoys’ success may be attrituable to Rodgers’s staff.

The ex-Liverpool manager brought Driscoll to Celtic, having worked alongside him with the Reds and Swansea previously, and Driscoll has opened up on the training methods behind the team’s current success.

He told Celtic TV that the playing staff have not experienced the same training drill more than once in a method of keeping it fresh which he says epitomises what the 43-year-old is trying to achieve during his time on the green half of the Old Firm divide.

“I think if you ask the players they probably haven’t had the same drill [in training] twice,” he said to Celtic TV.

“I think that in itself says everything, the standards each day, the thought that goes in from Brendan and the coaches to make sure that these players are getting exactly what they need specifically, through to the next game, the oppositon, to make sure they are tactically, technically, physically, mentally prepared to the optimum.”
