Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers have a bright youngster at their disposal, Gers boss Steven Gerrard should take notice.
Glasgow Rangers ace Zak Rudden impressed at international level on Wednesday afternoon as Scotland Under-19s began their UEFA Elite Round qualifying campaign with a 3-1 win over Turkey in Portugal.
Billy Stark’s youngsters began brightly against their opponeners and were rewarded with the opener in just the seventh minute from the 19-year-old Rangers striker, who is currently on loan at Falkirk from the Ibrox side.
Scotland went in level at the break as Rudden’s effort was cancelled out by a Turkey equaliser right on the stroke of half time but Robbie Deas put the home nation back in front seven minutes after the interval following an assist from Chelsea’s Billy Gilmour.
Coventry City’s Jack Burroughs made the points safe for the Scots in the closing stages in a game in which four other Ibrox academy stars – Jordan Houston, Lewis Mayo, Glenn Middleton and Dapo Mebude – featured.
Rudden is yet to make his competitive debut for Rangers but, with 10 goals and three assists in just 24 Scottish Championship games for Falkirk (Transfermarkt) and now a crucial goal at international level, surely Steven Gerrard and the rest of the Gers coaching setup should be taking notice.
The Scotland Under-19s fixture against Turkey was the first of three scheduled matches in the space of just six days, with Cyprus next up on Saturday afternoon, in Vila Do Conde.
