Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers just about got past the challenge of St. Johnstone yesterday.
Morelos and Lafferty were partners up-front in Rangers’ match against St. Johnstone yesterday, as Steven Gerrard’s side picked up a victory.
Rangers left it late to win 2-1 against St. Johnstone, but Morelos’ and Lafferty’s partnership did show signs of promise.
Morelos has generally been used as a lone striker for Rangers by Gerrard this season.
But Middleton feels that Morelos and Lafferty do have the ability to play in the same team, and insists that they show their quality regularly in Rangers’ training.
“There is definitely a partnership there with Kyle Lafferty,” Middleton said.
“You can see it in training as they combine and get on very well. It’s not just those two as everyone works hard in training and everyone has that connection on the pitch regardless of where they are.”
Rangers were far from at their best against St. Johnstone, and Gerrard was fuming after the match.
The Light Blues boss was far from happy with his side’s showing, but the three points were highly important.
Rangers have managed to keep the pressure on top of the table Celtic, and sit just one point behind their Glasgow rivals.
