Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers were rejected in their pursuit of Scott McTominay, but Leeds United may have more success.

Glasgow Rangers will have a right to feel aggrieved, if Scott McTominay moves to Leeds United in January.

According to a report in The Sun, Leeds are chasing the Manchester United youngster’s signature.

However, Rangers themselves moved for the 22-year-old, and were reportedly turned down.

According to the Daily Mirror, Jose Mourinho would not allow McTominay to move to Ibrox, as he didn’t want the youngster to depart on loan.

However, Leeds apparently feel that they have a chance to land McTominay on a temporary move, and that could seriously frustrate Rangers.

It seems like an odd decision from United’s perspective, too, as while Mourinho may have some doubts over the quality of the SPFL, the attacking midfielder would at least have played regularly at Ibrox.

Rangers are in need of a creative spark, and McTominay could have offered them that.

At Leeds, however, McTominay would face a major fight for a place in Thomas Christiansen’s first-team.

Leeds already have the likes of Kemar Roofe, Samu Saiz and Pablo Hernandez competing to play in the number 10 role, which means McTominay may be kept in a reserve role.
