Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers’ boss Steven Gerrard is said to be keen on George Edmundson.

Oldham's George Edmundson celebrates opening the scoring during the Sky Bet League 2 match between Oldham Athletic and Swindon Town at Boundary Park, Oldham on Saturday 13th April 2019.

According to the Daily Record, Glasgow Rangers are considering signing George Edmundson from Oldham Athletic for £1 million.

Rangers have been attempting to bring in Edmundson for much of the summer so far, but have made slow progress.

Steven Gerrard’s side are now said to be considering making a seven figure offer for the centre-back, but that would have to go down as a gamble.

Although Edmunson has impressed at Oldham, Rangers would be paying big money for a player who has very limited experience.

Edmundson only has two seasons of regular game-time under his belt, and he has never played consistently above League Two level.

The defender has looked comfortable in the bottom tier of English league football, but Rangers would be paying a very big fee for him.

Edmundson would be making a big step up by moving to Ibrox, and a £1 million price-tag would immediately put even more pressure on him with the Glasgow side.

And if Rangers are to spend big on the defender, then they would be taking a big gamble, given his relative lack of experience over his career to date.
