Kenny Miller has scored seven times for Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers so far this season.
Kenny Miller has told the Glasgow Evening Times that Glasgow Rangers assistant manager David Weir has told him to keep playing for as long as possible.
Weir carried on playing professional football until the age of 41, before going into coaching.
With Rangers forward Miller now reaching the age of 37, the striker is starting to think of his options in the future.
However, Miller insists that he wants to keep playing football for as long as possible, and Weir has encouraged him to do just that.
“Davie Weir played until he was 41 but he still says play as long as you can because there is no substitute for it,” Miller said.
“I don’t need to be told that, but it is nice to get that wee bit reassurance that that is the way you should have your mind set. For me, that has never changed.
“I am 37 and that is not old. It is old in football terms and I appreciate that but I don’t feel that much different from how I did five, six, seven years ago. There is no reason why I can’t continue playing on for a while yet.”
Miller’s future at Rangers is currently up in the air, as his contract at Ibrox expires at the end of the season.
The veteran forward has not yet been offered a new deal by the Glasgow club, even though he has played fairly frequently this season.
Miller has made 27 appearances for Rangers in all competitions, scoring seven times and claiming four assists.
Rangers are next in action against Motherwell on Saturday, when Miller is expected to feature again.
