Glasgow Rangers boss Steven Gerrard could see Celtic captain Scott Brown line up at Ibrox in the next Old Firm derby in the Scottish Premiership.
Glasgow Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has responded when asked about the prospect of Celtic captain Scott Brown being available for their visit of Ibrox for the Old Firm rivals’ penultimate game of the Scottish Premiership season.
According to the Daily Record, the 33-year-old was to have his Scottish Football Association disciplinary hearing on Thursday 2 May but the date of the hearing has been changed to Friday 26 April following a request by his club.
Brown was accused by the SFA of “failing to act in the best interests of Scottish football” after celebrating in front of the Rangers fans following his side’s 2-1 derby win on 31 March
The former Scotland international faces the prospect of a two-match ban if found guilty but the date being brought forward could make him available for the final Old Firm game of the season.
The change of date to 26 April means Brown would need to be handed a three-game ban to miss that derby between Rangers and Celtic, as the club plays Kilmarnock and Aberdeen before heading to Ibrox.
When asked about it, Gerrard is quoted by The National as saying: “I’ve got nothing to say on it, really. That’s Celtic’s business. But if he’s available for the Old Firm, it’s good news.”
On Saturday, Rangers picked up their seventh consecutive victory as they won 3-1 away at Hearts, which ensures Celtic cannot clinch the Scottish Premiership title against Hibernian on Sunday.
